This project called for the new construction of a state-of-the-art middle school for 6th-8th grade students. The school was built on a vacant 35-acre parcel of land in close proximity to the high school, creating a campus-like environment. The enrollment of the school is approximately 950 students.
Sitework included the development of parking areas and playing fields. The building met Connecticut guidelines for High-Performance Buildings and the OSCGR process and requirements for school construction.
O&G assisted SLAM, Arcadis, and the Groton Public Works Department in establishing building and material “standards” for use in this and future construction projects.
